I was bullied for it which amongst other things led to my depression, constantly yo-yo dieted, had anxiety about many of these issues and also had health problems with my cholesterol at my highest weight. About 5 years ago I became vegan, which had a tremendously positive effect on my overall health, a year after that I started focusing on eating a lot more "clean" healthy vegan foods and worked out a lot. I felt great and I was probably in the best shape of my life so far, but that wasn't enough for me. During the following year, I transitioned to a completely raw vegan diet which meant that besides no animal products & gluten that I previously cut out, now I didn't eat anything with oil, salt, grains, legumes, processed foods or if it was cooked in any way. I ate mainly fruit, vegetables, leafy greens and small amounts of nuts and seeds for about a year. I lost more weight, my skin cleared up more than ever and mostly I felt in control. After about a year as a raw vegan and during a stressful time I experienced emotionally, I lost my period. I also felt very ungrounded, almost disconnected from life in a way. It came into play with me being disgusted by anything that was not "clean", "pure" or "high vibrational". Everyday human activities like walking in a busy city street or hanging out with friends felt dirty to me. This went on for a couple of months during which I told myself that the problem was not with me but with the world, and also many raw vegan YouTubers talk about losing your period and seeing the world as dirty as a positive sign, which gave me validation. But the point where I couldn't be in denial anymore was when the relationships in my life started to suffer, I pulled away from the people I loved most... and just when it all started crumbling down, I traveled to India for a month. During that trip, I got extreme food poisoning and funny enough the only food I was able to stomach was white rice with tahini. I was terrified at first, but I have to say that that first meal of rice after more than a year of raw food was heavenly. Looking back, that comforting meal on the roof of the guesthouse in Alleppey India marked the beginning of my healing. After a couple of months of eating cooked foods, my period came back and my body slowly balanced. I also started therapy which helped a lot. Now almost two years later and after a lot of healing I can see that my obsession around physical cleansing was a way for me to try to do what's right for myself, but now I know that what I truly needed all along was compassion towards all parts of me. Nothing is completely good or bad and that I definitely have many good habits from my time as a raw vegan, like the fact that I am much more attentive to myself, I enjoy moving my body and strengthening it and I love healthy vegan foods simply because they make me feel good. But my focus these days is balance, I am not strict and do enjoy just slugging around and the simple pleasures of life like vegan pizza :) This was not easy for me to share, but I am grateful for all of this experience because if this story helped even one of you out there, it happened for a reason. Want to start a raw food diet? Now is the time! It's about thriving, allowing your foods to nourish your body and send your soul soaring! There are many ways to eat a raw foods diet. Ironically, some of these ways are not healthy at all. Eating FullyRaw focuses on thriving via a low fat raw vegan lifestyle (80/10/10), which emphasizes consuming more fruits and greens than gourmet prepared dishes with nuts or seeds. My diet consists primarily of fruits and greens, which are the most nutrient dense foods. These foods have brought me absolute health, and I want to share my healthy lifestyle with you! 10 Easy Steps to Start Eating a Raw Food Diet: 1. Stock up on Fruits! (Throw out ALL junk and make SURE that you have enough in your house to last you at least a week!) 2. Make your first meal of the day a juice or smoothie. (32-64 oz) Try my Holy Grale, V8 Juice, or Orange Spinach Basil Smoothie! YUM! 3. Make your second meal a huge platter of fruit! Eat all the fruit that you care for and preferably mono-meal. This is the easiest on digestion. Examples of a fruit meal are bananas (7-15), oranges (10-15), pears (8-10), grapes (whole 2 lb bag), apples (7-10), persimmons (10), etc. Gravitate towards sweeter fruits because these have a higher calorie ratio per unit of volume. If you are worried about not being able to eat as much as you need, remember that your stomach is a muscle and that it can expand AND contract when "exercised" properly. Yes, you can eat more expensive fruits (berries, cherries, etc)-- it's personal and monetary preference! 4. For your dinner, eat a small plate of fruit and a large salad! Start with juicy fruits like citrus (5-6 pieces) and end with a GIANT Rainbow Salad. Consume about 1-2 heads of leafy greens if you can. How My Eyes Changed on a Raw Food Diet You’ve probably heard of Iridology, a scientific field which teaches that each part of your body and organs is reflected in your eyes. It's a bit like reflexology, where your body is mapped out on your foot, only this is in your eyes. Using iridology, you can see if there are internal problems. If your body and colon is clogged up with toxins like heavy metals, overgrowth of candida etc. then this will be reflected in your eyes; you’ll see different coloured spots of different sizes, and the white area will be full of red lines. I eat a lot of food raw for the obvious health benefits and I am vegan, but I have never intentionally eaten entirely raw for a day - so I decided to try out some fully raw vegan recipes and share that day with you guys. I found that after a meal of just fruit or a simple salad I did not experience the common after dinner fatigue that I was so used to. Over the course of a couple of months I switched to a 100 % fully raw diet of just fruits and vegetables and I was fueled by a motivation to feel great all the time - including after I ate! This means more energy for other activities than digestion! Our anatomy is actually that of a frugivore. Fruit is the food our digestive system is designed for. Sure, we can eat almost anything for survival, but the optimal diet is certainly raw fruits and vegetables. Give the low fat raw vegan diet a try by experimenting with big monomeals of your favourite fruit and see how you feel afterwards! Even better, try it for a few months and reap the full benefits! I'm here to change people’s lives for the better through food and love. I know it’s hard to believe I was 247 pounds, even hard for me to believe, but I was so swollen with toxic waste in my body. It literally just blew me up like the blueberry lady. And even when I got rid of some of the toxicity, I still had residual weight and I got it to a manageable degree but I was still on medications. And when I finally got rid of the medicine and started clearing out some of the foods that were weighing me down, it was not until then that my body completely cleaned out toxic waste. I'm Diana Stobo and this is my story. As a child, I loved food. My family was centered around the kitchen. It became so apparent to me that food was my emotional crutch; when things seemed to be sad or missing, I wanted to eat. And I even found that sometimes, when I was depressed I wouldn’t eat at all. So I was in constant flux around food. And by the time I was in my early teens, I had become quite a chubby child and it really affected my self-esteem, I mean I always had that dream of being the tall thin girl but I was struggling for a while to stay in a normal size range that seemed acceptable. It was a challenge. So after I was married, I tried to get pregnant several times and I had to do in vitro fertilization in order to give birth to my babies. Through all that toxic synthetic hormones, my body just expanded to enormous toxicity. And actually, when I gave birth to my twins, they called it toxaemia – a very appropriate name for a toxic overload. Since my upbringing was so spectacularly surrounded around food, food was an integral part of our life as well. The children and I celebrated around food; we always had parties, made sure that there are barbeques on the weekend and it became our existence. I got so used to being bigger that I just started telling everybody I was big boned, that this is just the way I am. I'm a very tall person and this is the way I'm going to be. I was getting settled and comforted at the right old age of 35. I had thyroid issues; I had what they call chronic fatigue syndrome. So I was completely unaware that the medication I was taking was also influencing the toxic environment of my body. It seemed like there was a name for everything that ailed me, but nobody had the cure. Until one day, I went to the hospital and I had a bleeding ulcer that led me directly to the emergency room. I left that hospital with another bottle of pills. This is the pivotal moment of my life. I knew something had to change. I immediately went to the library, picked out books, learned about nutrition, immersed myself in how I can cure my own disease. So I threw the medicine away and I began to look at food as my medicine. I focused on the nutritional value of the foods I was eating and came up with a list of toxic foods that I immediately had to take out of my body. I posted this list prominently on the front of my refrigerator and every time I went to go reach for food, I looked at that list to make sure that none of the foods I was eating had anything to do with this list. And it was amazing at the change that occurred.
